How does it work?

Usually, we’ll gather at the host’s home for our salon (alternative venues are always fun, though!). Here’s the timetable, which the chairperson will ensure we stick to quite strictly:

6.00 – 7PM: Staggered arrival for salon; mingle with other people

7 – 7.20PM: Speaker introduced by chairperson and next month’s speaker and topic are announced; talk given by speaker on pre-announced topic

7.20 – 8PM: Floor is open for questions for the speaker and formal debate

8PM – 9.30: Formal portion of the evening is over; everyone is free to mingle and discuss the topic – or whatever else they want – at their leisure.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Formal talk begins at 7PM sharp. If you can’t make it for 7PM, just join us at 8 when the formal portion of the evening has ended. The talk will not be interrupted so that latecomers can join us.
